Video: Understand how your teen talks to friends

Teens communicate with one another much differently today than they did when you were their age. Teaching your teen how to drive and understanding how your teen communicates with friends might not seem related, but they are.

Teens rarely call their friends anymore. Instead, teens text. U.S. teens send an average of 3,339 texts each month, according to a 2010 study from Nielson. See why it’s important to know how teens communicate? You don’t want them texting while driving!

DriveitHOME explained how parents can translate teens in a funny skit that was part of its 2013 Drive it Home Show. In this video, actors from Chicago-based Second City show parents how to understand their teens’ communication habits.
