How laws help keep teen drivers safe

No state has laws strong enough to protect teens from the most significant risks they face on the roads. That’s why it’s so important for parents who are teaching teens to drive to set household rules that go beyond state laws – particularly when it comes to driving curfews, carrying young passengers and using cell phones.

Just because the laws aren’t tough enough doesn’t mean lawmakers haven’t fought to strengthen them. In this video from DriveitHOME.org, Congressman Randy Hultgren (R-IL) talks about why he supports laws that protect teen drivers. The father of four also calls on parents to be as involved as possible when teaching teens to drive.
