Katie’s story

Every time Katie Mathews speaks to teens and thinks of the futures that lay ahead of them, she rededicates herself to her work, intent on ensuring they fully understand the preciousness of their own lives and the consequences of choices they may make while driving.

Katie talks about the dreams she had of playing collegiate basketball, the camping trips she used to take with friends, the parties she attended, the afternoons she spent lounging on the beach and how much she loved to ride four wheelers.

Katie’s story

Katie was dedicated to teaching young girls the importance of inner beauty. The 16 year old Florida teen was the perfect mentor; she was beautiful inside and out. Friends and family were drawn to her magnetic personality and impressed with her ability to make everyone feel important and appreciated. When Katie became a charter member of the Ophelia Organization for Girls to help middle school-aged girls understand that beauty comes from within, no one was surprised.

The Ophelia Organization met on March 4 for an all-day workshop as planned. But their mentor wasn’t there.

Helping your teen drive at night
